In the early hours of Saturday, January 4, Russian occupiers once again launched strike drones over Ukrainian territory. Explosions were reported in 11 regions, the press service of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
According to the Air Forces, since 7:00 PM on January 3, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with 81 Shahed-type strike drones, as well as imitation drones of various types. The UAVs were launched from Russian territories including Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
As of 9:00 AM, military personnel confirmed the downing of 34 strike drones. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups operated in the following areas:
“Due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 47 enemy imitation drones were lost in specific locations (without negative consequences). However, the downed UAVs caused damage in Chernihiv and Sumy regions — private houses were damaged,” – reported the press service of the Air Forces.
According to the Sumy Regional State Administration, 18 enemy drones were shot down over the region. However, there were no reports of destruction or damage to civilian infrastructure from the regional administration’s press service.
Two more UAVs were reported to have been destroyed by the press service of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration – debris from the downed drones damaged windows of one of the administrative buildings. There were no casualties or fatalities as a result of the attack.
