On Saturday afternoon, January 4, Russian forces launched an airstrike on a residential area of the Sveska community in Sumy region. Currently, five injuries have been reported, reports the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to investigators, on January 4 at approximately 14:30, the enemy dropped, presumably, two guided aerial bombs on the civilian infrastructure of the Sveska community in the Shostka district. One bomb hit a five-story residential building, while the other struck a neighboring residential area.
“As a result of the occupiers' attack, five civilians were injured, including two children – a two-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy,” law enforcement officials report.
Additionally, according to information from the Sumy Regional State Administration, as a result of the Russian airstrike, the entrance to an apartment building in the Sveska community was destroyed.
Prosecutors, along with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the shelling. The Shostka District Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation regarding the commission of war crimes (Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Updated at 22:50. As reported by the Mind editorial team, one of the Russian aerial bombs fell on the house of their journalist Denis Zakiianov, destroying the neighboring entrance.
“At that time, he was at home, Denis clarified. He was buried under shards of glass from broken windows. However, he assures that he did not sustain serious injuries,” the report states.
According to rescuers in Sumy region, as a result of the attack, 10 people were injured, including two children. In the five-story residential building, 15 apartments were destroyed, and a private house was also demolished. The shockwave damaged approximately 900 windows in four five-story residential buildings and seven private houses.
