The Russian military is utilizing the GCS management system. It can control an unlimited number of UAVs simultaneously with a single remote. This was reported on Sunday, February 2, by the Institute for the Study of War.
According to analysts, the GCS system can manage an unlimited number of drones using a single remote control.
“Hermes Design Bureau, a subsidiary of the drone countermeasures system manufacturer Kaisant, announced on January 31 that it has developed a GCS system that can control a swarm of an unlimited number of drones with a single remote control,” the statement reads.
The Russians are already employing this system in the war against Ukraine. The post notes that it helps in remotely controlling drones across various frequencies to bypass electronic warfare measures.
Additionally, at the end of January, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the command of the Russian Armed Forces has begun actively forming unmanned systems troops.
“The Russian forces are likely to gain enhanced support capabilities for drones if the Russian Ministry of Defense successfully establishes these new unmanned system regiments and centralizes its procurement efforts within the Unmanned Systems Forces, although the success of these efforts will depend on the commitment of the Russian armed forces to carry out necessary reforms and the availability of resources,” analysts noted.
On February 2, it became known that the Russians applied a new tactic against Ukrainian naval drones in the Black Sea.
