During the autumn-winter storms, Russia lost nearly half of the barge barriers near the Kerch Bridge.
According to a report from the Telegram channel "Crimean Wind,"
“During the autumn-winter storms, the Russian Federation has already lost almost half of the barge barriers near the Kerch Bridge, but it is not engaged in their restoration,” the message states.
In particular, a recent satellite image shows 18 barges, whereas on November 8, 2024, a total of 34 interconnected vessels in two rows were recorded on both sides of the navigable channel in the Kerch Strait.
“By December 8, only 18 barges remained in the strait, and since then, Russia has not attempted to restore the barriers,” analysts added.
It is worth noting that the Crimean or Kerch Bridge is an illegal crossing constructed by Russia after the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula in 2014. The bridge, measuring 19 km in length, connects the peninsula with the mainland part of Russia.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Russians are unable to use the Kerch Bridge for transferring military cargo; however, this structure remains a symbol of their imperial policy.
