The special representative of the elected U.S. President Donald Trump for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, has postponed his planned trip to Kyiv and other European capitals.
This was reported by Reuters citing four informed sources.
Kellogg is expected to arrive in Ukraine after Trump’s inauguration, although the date of the visit has not yet been determined.
In December, the agency reported that as part of efforts to end the war, retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg had planned to travel to Kyiv in early January to meet with Ukrainian leadership.
His team was also working on organizing visits to Rome and Paris, where Kellogg was set to meet with European leaders.
He did not plan to visit Moscow during his tour.
The reasons for the decision to postpone the visit are currently unknown.
Neither Kellogg nor the Ukrainian embassy in Washington responded to requests for comment, the agency writes.
Kellogg was appointed as the special representative for Ukraine in Donald Trump’s upcoming administration at the end of November.
He served in the Trump administration during his first term (2017–2021) as the head of the National Security Council and as a national security advisor to then Vice President Mike Pence.
On December 25, Trump’s special representative condemned the shelling of Ukraine, but did not specify that it was carried out by Russia.
He also reportedly criticized the recent killing of Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov in an interview with Fox News.
