The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine amounting to $725 million.
This information comes from Reuters, citing two sources.
According to one of them, the United States plans to provide various equipment from American stockpiles, including anti-tank weapons, drones, mines, Stinger missile systems, and ammunition for the HIMARS rocket systems.
The weapons will be sourced from U.S. Army depots.
The content and size of the package may change in the coming days, the agency notes.
As reported by Reuters, the package is also likely to include cluster munitions. Congress is expected to receive an official notification by December 2.
Background. Furthermore, it was revealed recently that Biden will request an additional $24 billion from Congress for aid to Ukraine and to replenish U.S. stockpiles – if approved, this funding will go to the Pentagon for supplying weapons to Ukraine and replenishing the stock of American weapons sent to Kyiv.
