Air forces eliminated 40 enemy drones overnight.

On the night of Sunday, February 2, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 55 Shahed kamikaze drones and various types of imitation drones. Most of the enemy drones were destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense. This was reported by the Air Force Command.

The enemy launched an aerial attack on Ukraine at 21:00 on February 1. The Russians fired their munitions from the territories of Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation.

To repel the air assault, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and Defense Forces were engaged.

As of 09:00, the Air Force Command confirmed the downing of 40 Shahed-type strike UAVs and other types of drones in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Odesa regions. An additional 13 enemy imitation drones were lost in specific locations.

Consequences of the UAV Attack on Ukraine

As a result of the enemy's attack this night, Kharkiv and Sumy regions were affected. According to information from the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, a Russian drone struck the territory of a civilian enterprise in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack caused a large fire covering an area of 2000 m2 in a production and storage building. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze. There were no casualties.

Additionally, another drone hit an outbuilding in Lubotyn in the Kharkiv district. A 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were injured in the attack, both diagnosed with 1-2 degree burns and acute stress reaction.

“Two cars, the roof of a house, and outbuildings were damaged. Six other houses were also affected – window glazing, roofs, fences, and outbuildings,” – wrote Synegubov.

In the Sumy Regional State Administration, it was reported that drones attacked the Sadivska community at night. As a result, five multi-apartment residential buildings and two cars were damaged. Explosions were also heard in the Krasnopillia, Sumy, and Shostka communities.

The press service of the State Emergency Service of Sumy reported that rescuers extinguished a large fire at an infrastructure facility in the Sumy region, caused by an enemy strike on the night of February 2. According to preliminary information, no people were harmed.
