Over the course of a day, Russian military forces deployed 72 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of drones from the directions of Bryansk and Orel in Russia against Ukraine. This was reported by the Air Force on Monday, December 23.
The assault, which lasted from 10:00 on December 22 to 09:00 on December 23, was repelled by anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine. As of 9:00, the downing of 47 drones in nine regions was confirmed:
An additional 25 enemy imitation drones were lost without any negative consequences. In Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions, private businesses and homes were damaged as a result of the enemy attack, with no casualties reported so far; assistance is being provided to those affected, as stated by the Air Force Command.
According to the words of the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Serhii Tiurin, equipment at a local enterprise was damaged during the attack. It is known that one person sustained injuries, but their condition is satisfactory. Windows in private homes and a passenger vehicle were also damaged. Overnight, air defense forces destroyed five enemy Shahed-type UAVs over the region.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of debris from the downed drones falling in one area, a power line was damaged, but electricity supply has already been restored. In another area, debris damaged four private houses, a garage, and three vehicles. Windows were shattered, doors and facades were cut, and roofs were damaged. There are no casualties or damage to infrastructure reported.
