In a village near Lviv, a driver of a Škoda car fatally struck an unidentified pedestrian, after which a Volkswagen minibus driver ran over him. The police are requesting witnesses of the accident to assist in identifying the victim.
As reported by the police, the accident occurred on Wednesday, January 8, at 23:03 in the village of Tarasivka, Lviv region. On the Lviv – Ternopil highway, a 72-year-old resident of the Khmelnytskyi region, driving a Škoda Octavia, hit a man aged 35-40, after which he was also struck by a Volkswagen Transporter minibus, driven by a 63-year-old resident of the Kirovohrad region.
The pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries, and his identity is being established. Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator faces imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years.
The police are asking anyone with information that could help clarify the circumstances of the accident and identify the deceased to contact the emergency line 102 or the nearest police department.
