The police have opened a criminal case against a woman from Lviv for setting off fireworks on New Year's Eve.

During the state of martial law in Ukraine, the sale and use of pyrotechnics are prohibited.

The Lviv police located a 37-year-old woman from Lviv who set off fireworks in Sykhiv on New Year's Eve. A criminal case has been initiated against her for hooliganism.

On the evening of December 31, residents of Lviv complained on social media that unidentified individuals were setting off fireworks in Sykhiv. Photos and videos showed a box of fireworks placed on Chervonoy Kalyny Avenue, near the Avalon Up residential complex. The police reported that they were identifying the offenders.

As reported by the National Police of Lviv region on January 3, after reviewing footage from the "Safe Lviv" surveillance system, law enforcement determined that the fireworks were launched by a 37-year-old local resident.

The woman has been informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this article includes a fine ranging from one thousand to two thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, probation for up to five years, or imprisonment for the same duration. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that during martial law in Ukraine, the sale and use of pyrotechnics are prohibited. Violations may result in administrative and criminal liability.
