Polish farmers have initiated a strike and are implementing a new blockade at the border with Ukraine.

A protest action is scheduled to begin in the morning on November 23rd.
Польские фермеры объявили забастовку и новое блокирование границы с Украиной.

On Saturday, November 23, Polish farmers are set to begin a protest at the "Medika-Szeginy" border crossing. Lviv Customs has alerted freight carriers about potential traffic disruptions.

According to preliminary information from the Polish side, local farmers plan to start a strike at the "Medika – Szeginy" crossing on November 23 at 9:00 AM (Kyiv time),” stated the Lviv Customs message.

Polish customs officials have informed their Ukrainian counterparts that the blockade of vehicle traffic will last until the end of 2024.

Protesters intend to allow buses and passenger cars to pass in both directions without changes. The restrictions apply only to freight vehicles. They plan to let one truck enter Ukraine per hour, while the exit of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons from Ukraine might be completely blocked.

It is worth noting that since November 2023, the Poles have blocked the border with Ukraine. Polish carriers, followed by farmers, have intermittently blocked traffic at various checkpoints, demanding better working conditions from their government and the European Union. Specifically, they have requested subsidies for fertilizers, compensation for fuel excise taxes, immediate payment of all subsidies, the reinstatement of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers, a ban on the import of Ukrainian products, and have other demands that often have no relevance to Ukraine.

Polish politicians who supported the blockade have pro-Russian sympathies. ZAXID.NET reported on who was behind the border blockade here.
