Since the onset of the full-scale war, Poland has nearly doubled its exports of goods to Ukraine.

Ukraine's primary imports from Poland include oil, transportation equipment, machinery, weapons, and electrical equipment.
Польша почти в два раза увеличила экспорт товаров в Украину с начала полномасштабной войны.

Between 2021 and 2024, Polish exports to Ukraine increased by over 80%. This growth in exports is partly linked to the supply of defense goods. The Polish Economic Institute reported that, at the same time, imports of goods from Ukraine to Poland have remained at the 2021 levels.

Currently, the Ukrainian market ranks seventh for Poland in terms of export levels. In 2021, it amounted to €6.3 billion, in 2022 – €9.7 billion, and in 2023 – €11.4 billion. In the first nine months of 2024, exports reached €9.4 billion. It is noteworthy that since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Poland has exported the most mineral fuels and petroleum products, machinery, transport and its parts, weapons and ammunition, as well as electrical equipment.

“Even if we exclude war-related categories, exports remain approximately 30% higher than before the Russian invasion [in 2022], indicating a continuous increase in the importance of Ukraine as a trading partner for Poland. A potential opportunity for further export development to Ukraine lies in its Euro-integration and the expansion of infrastructure connections through Ukraine to Asia,”reported the Polish Economic Institute.

As for imports from Ukraine to Poland, they account for approximately 1-1.5%. In 2021, this figure reached €4.2 billion, in 2022 – €6 billion, and in 2023 – €4.2 billion. In the first nine months of 2024, imports totaled €3.3 billion. Poland primarily imports iron, steel, metal ores, fats, and vegetable oils from Ukraine.
