The Kyiv Pechersk Court has suspended Markushyn from his position as the mayor of Irpin.

He is suspected of illegally crossing the border.

The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has suspended the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, from performing his duties during the investigation. This preventive measure will remain in effect until March 22, 2025.

He announced this on Telegram.

“After hours of court proceedings, reviewing each piece of evidence and the dismantling of the charges by my lawyers, Judge Svitlana Hrechana of the Pechersk District Court decided to suspend me from managing the Irpin community during the investigation into my trip abroad in 2022,” Markushyn wrote.

He emphasized that the court's decision will be appealed shortly.

Reminder: the court has placed Markushyn under preventive custody until March 22, 2025, with the possibility of a bail of 30 million UAH.

The case concerns the mayor's trip abroad, which lasted from August 24 to August 30, 2022. According to law enforcement, Markushyn allegedly traveled to Italy not to provide assistance to the military, but to see his two-year-old son.

According to the prosecutor, Markushyn did not provide any documents confirming his volunteer activities abroad.
