The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has allocated 1.04 billion UAH to provide Ukrainians with coal and firewood during the heating season.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy.
According to the ministry, in 2024, approximately 245,500 Ukrainian households have already received financial assistance totaling 3.4 billion UAH from all funding sources. Specifically, 2.4 billion UAH (for 198,000 households) has come from the state budget of Ukraine.
The press service noted that the amount of additional payments is calculated individually for each household. It directly depends on the family’s income: the lower the income, the larger portion of the fuel expenses (within the established norm) is covered by the state budget or international partners.
“The payment is aimed at supporting Ukrainians from vulnerable categories. Therefore, the additional payment is provided to citizens who receive housing subsidies and benefits for purchasing solid fuel during the winter period,” the statement said.
If a household receives a subsidy or benefit for purchasing solid heating fuel, there is no need to apply anywhere. The Pension Fund already has all the necessary information to credit the funds to the recipient's bank account, the press service added.
