In 2025, Norway will provide Ukraine with the largest military assistance in its history – over 2 billion euros.
This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov, following a meeting with Norway’s Minister of Defense, Bjørn Arild Gram.
“These agreements will elevate our cooperation to a new level. Together with Mr. Gram, we discussed the priority areas for utilizing this assistance,” Umerov noted. According to him, particular attention was given to strengthening air defense systems – this is a critical direction, and Ukraine is counting on Norway's support.
Additionally, Norway will continue to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry and joint projects, particularly in ammunition production.
Moreover, the meeting addressed a new cooperation mechanism – the “Norwegian model,” which will complement the already successful “Danish model” and enhance our defense capabilities. “Norway is one of the countries that assists not only on the battlefield but also promotes the unification of European nations to support our state,” the minister added.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that in December 2024, Norway announced the allocation of an additional 2.7 billion Norwegian kroner – over $240 million for strengthening Ukraine’s maritime defense.
