Allies will soon discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, according to Scholz.

The Chancellor noted that the discussion will also focus on how Ukraine can maintain a strong military.
В ближайшее время союзники обсудят гарантии безопасности для Украины, – заявил Шольц.

In the near future, Germany will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine with its allies.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated this in an interview with the Funke media group.

"Firstly, it would be great if the war in Ukraine came to an end. But even then, we would still need to ensure a secure future for Ukraine," Scholz said.

He noted that the discussion will focus on security guarantees as well as how Ukraine can maintain a strong army, which "we will equip together." According to Scholz, this issue will be discussed by allies in the near future.

"We will talk about this with our allies soon. However, for now, such speculation is off-limits. Nothing will be decided without the Ukrainian people's involvement. And we are still far from peace," emphasized the German Chancellor.

It is worth mentioning that Ukraine is in talks with Western allies regarding the potential deployment of peacekeeping forces in the future. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, around 200,000 European peacekeepers would be needed to ensure lasting peace in Ukraine.

Background. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a European contingent on Ukrainian territory could be part of the security guarantees, but it cannot be the sole guarantee, as that would be insufficient.
