In Transcarpathia, a repeat offender was sentenced for assaulting an individual and possessing an arsenal of weapons.

A court in Transcarpathia found a 44-year-old resident of the village of Vonyhovo guilty of assaulting a person and illegal handling of weapons and ammunition. The previously convicted individual received a sentence of 5 years in prison.

As reported by the police of the Transcarpathian region on November 27, the incident occurred in March 2023 in Bushtein, located in the Tyachiv district. The accused visited a 51-year-old acquaintance, and during an argument, he inflicted several knife wounds and fled the scene in an Audi A6. Law enforcement stopped the vehicle in the Mukachevo district.

“During the inspection of the vehicle, two hand-held grenade launchers, two F-1 grenade bodies, and fuses for them, a Makarov pistol, as well as a box containing over a thousand rounds of ammunition were found and seized,” the authorities reported.

The court found the 44-year-old Transcarpathian guilty of intentional serious bodily harm and illegal handling of weapons and ammunition, sentencing him to 5 years of imprisonment. An appeal may be filed against the verdict.
