В Закарпатье задержали виновника ДТП, в результате которого погибла 16-летняя пассажирка мотоцикла.

The Uzhhorod City District Court found Bogdan Ivanytsuk, a native of the village of Novoselytsia in the Tyachiv district, guilty of violating traffic rules, resulting in the death of a victim. For the traffic accident that claimed the life of a minor passenger on the motorcycle, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

As stated in the court ruling issued on November 8, the accident occurred on the morning of November 12, 2021, in the village of Vilkhivtsi, Tyachiv district. Bogdan Ivanytsuk, while turning into a parking lot in his Mercedes-Benz, collided with a Kovі motorcycle that was traveling in the same direction and overtaking cars behind. The 16-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle died at the scene from multiple injuries.

During the court hearing, Bogdan Ivanytsuk blamed the motorcyclist for the accident. According to the driver of the Mercedes, who was en route to the maternity hospital in Tyachiv with his wife that day, they had planned to stop at the ABC store in Vilkhivtsi. The court did not consider the testimonies of witnesses who were not eyewitnesses to the accident and were relatives of the accused. Instead, it supported the conclusions of the investigations, which indicated that the motorcyclist would not have physically been able to brake in time before the car that was making a maneuver ahead in violation of traffic rules.

After reviewing the case materials, Judge Maryna Khamsyk found Bogdan Ivanytsuk guilty of causing the traffic accident that resulted in the death of a minor girl and sentenced him to 3.5 years in prison. The convicted individual was also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for 2 years. An appeal may be filed against the sentence.
