In Transcarpathia, police have apprehended a suspect in the murder of a 17-year-old teenager.

In the early hours of Sunday, January 26, during a sudden conflict, a 56-year-old resident of Transcarpathia stabbed a 17-year-old teenager in the heart. Medics attempted to revive him, but were unable to save his life. The police have arrested the suspect in the murder.

As reported by the Transcarpathian police, on the night of January 26, they received a notification about the hospitalization of a 17-year-old resident of the village of Nelipino with a knife wound to the heart area. The boy died despite the medics' efforts to revive him.

The police established that on that evening, the 17-year-old victim was visiting a 56-year-old fellow villager. Together, they were consuming alcoholic beverages, and later a conflict arose between them, during which the man grabbed a kitchen knife from the table and stabbed the minor in the chest.

The 56-year-old suspect was located and detained by the police. Investigators have classified his actions under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder). He faces up to 15 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
