In Volyn, a 41-year-old driver fatally struck a pensioner with his car.

On the evening of November 20, in the village of Zarichchia in the Volodymyr district, a car struck and killed a 66-year-old man who was crossing the road at an unmarked location. This was reported by the police press service of the region.

According to the investigation, a 41-year-old resident of Volodymyr, the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe, hit the 66-year-old pensioner. It is known that the victim was a resident of the Zarichan community, who crossed the roadway at an unmarked place. The man died from his injuries.

The police have seized the vehicle. According to the examination results, the driver was sober.

Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules resulting in the death of the victim). The penalty for this article ranges from three to eight years of imprisonment.
