In the Mykolaiv region, a Mazda crashed into a truck, resulting in the deaths of the driver and a female passenger.

On the night of Friday, December 27, an accident occurred on the M-05 "Kyiv – Odesa" highway within the Kryvoozerska community of the Pervomaisky district, involving a Mazda car and a Volvo truck with a trailer.

This was reported by the police of the Mykolaiv region.

According to preliminary data, around 00:20, the driver of the Mazda collided with a Volvo truck with a trailer that was stationary on the roadside.

As a result of the accident, the 48-year-old driver of the car succumbed to injuries in the hospital, while his 18-year-old passenger died at the scene.

In connection with the incident, investigators have initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by individuals managing vehicles, resulting in the death of the victim." The penalty under this article can be up to eight years in prison.

The police are determining all the circumstances of the incident.
