In Sykhiv, a 21-year-old man from Lviv killed his neighbor on the staircase of their building.

Lviv police have detained a suspect in the murder of a neighbor. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of November 11 in the stairwell of a high-rise building on Vernadskyi Street, located in the Sykhiv district.

According to the police, a call was received around 7:00 PM. The body of an elderly resident was found on the stairs of the residential building.

“A sudden conflict erupted between two neighbors in the entrance, during which the assailant, a 21-year-old resident of Lviv, struck the victim multiple times in the head. The 66-year-old man died on the spot from the injuries sustained,” the police reported.

The special police unit TORS was involved in the forceful detention of the suspect. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to fifteen years. Investigators have opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder).

Later, the Sykhiv District Administration reported that the deceased was their former employee, Mykhailo Kostetskyi.
