An extraordinary incident occurred on December 25 in the village of Rokytne, Sarny district. A 53-year-old woman died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

As reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region on December 26, the preliminary cause of the Rokytne resident's death was a violation of the rules for operating heating stoves.

“According to information received from the dispatcher on the '103' line, it was reported to the rescuers that on December 25 in the village of Rokytne, Sarny district, a dead body of a woman born in 1971 was found, who had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The preliminary cause of death is a violation of the rules for operating heating stoves,” the State Emergency Service stated.

Rescuers reminded that to prevent the ignition of soot, chimneys and stoves should be cleaned throughout the entire heating season. All pipes and walls in the attic that contain smoke channels must be plastered and whitewashed, and the ash and slag removed from the furnace must be soaked in water and taken to specially designated places.
