In Prykarpattia, a poacher was fined nearly 500,000 UAH for killing a deer.

A resident of Kalushyn illegally hunted a deer in January 2024.

The Bohorodchany District Court found Oleg Daniiv guilty of illegal hunting, imposing a one-year probation period and confiscating his shotgun. The defendant is required to pay the "Chornyi Lis" reserve 494,000 UAH in damages and legal fees. The verdict states that Oleg Daniiv killed a deer with a hunting rifle on January 11, 2024.

The incident occurred near the village of Nyvochin in the Starobohorodchany territorial community. The accused dismembered the animal's body and transported it home to the village of Zaviiy. On the same day, police arrived and seized parts of the killed deer. The case materials indicate that the damage for killing the animal amounts to 479,000 UAH.

During the court hearings, Oleg Daniiv fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. He stated that he had not paid the material damages because he is currently unemployed.

Judge Vadym Reshetov found Oleg Daniiv guilty of illegal hunting (part 1 of Article 248 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and imposed a one-year probationary supervision, under which the defendant must report any change of residence, find employment, and not leave Ukraine. Oleg Daniiv also had his MР-43 hunting rifle confiscated. Additionally, he will pay the "Chornyi Lis" reserve 479,000 UAH in material compensation and 15,000 UAH in legal fees. Oleg Daniiv will reimburse the state 9,500 UAH for judicial expert evaluations. The verdict can be appealed in the Ivano-Frankivsk Court of Appeal.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and the declaration of martial law across Ukraine, hunting has been prohibited.
