On Thursday, January 9, police detained Vladimir Baida, the head of the Education Department of the Yavoriv City Council in Lviv region, on suspicion of bribery. In exchange for a bribe of 800,000 UAH, the official promised entrepreneurs to ensure their victory in the tender.

According to law enforcement, Vladimir Baida, the head of the Education Department, demanded a kickback from a business entity in exchange for preferential treatment in selecting the tender winner and signing contracts. The procurement involved office supplies.

According to ZAXID.NET, the head of the Education Department was caught red-handed in his office on the evening of January 9. Law enforcement seized the bribe. On January 10, the court was set to choose a preventive measure for the detainee.

The 45-year-old Vladimir Baida has headed the Education Department of the Yavoriv City Council since 2020 and previously managed the Education Department of the Yavoriv District Administration. In the recent local elections, he ran for the Lviv Regional Council from the "Batkivshchyna" party but did not succeed.
