The Moldovan government will lend 3 million cubic meters of gas to the Transnistrian region, necessary for maintaining pressure in the system.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced this, as reported by NewsMaker.

Recean also mentioned that the European Union is offering a grant of 30 million euros for the purchase of gas, electricity production for Moldova at crisis prices, and ensuring consumption on the left bank – Transnistria.

A comprehensive program for enhancing energy resilience over the next two years has also been approved, including a reduction in electricity tariffs on the Right Bank.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the costs will be covered by the EU grant.

Previously, Mind reported that Russia is ready to buy gas for the Moldovan region of Transnistria, as stated by the Kremlin. “Moscow is prepared to provide assistance to Transnistria,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov to reporters on January 16 in response to a request to comment on media reports that Russia plans to purchase gas for Transnistria on the European spot market.
