The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has filed a lawsuit to impose sanctions in the form of confiscating the assets of pro-Russian propagandist Kirill Vyshynsky for the benefit of the state.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

“The submission of the lawsuit to confiscate Vyshynsky's assets for state benefit is a logical continuation of the state's policy to hold accountable those who consciously work for hostile propaganda and harm the national interests of Ukraine. Everyone who supports the aggressor state and promotes its interests must bear responsibility for this,” the ministry stated.

Vyshynsky systematically worked for the Russian propaganda machine, according to the report. Specifically, from 2014 to 2018, as the head of “RIA Novosti-Ukraine,” he organized the publication of materials that justified the temporary annexation of Crimea and supported the illegal armed formations of the “DNR” and “LNR.”

Currently, Vyshynsky holds the position of executive director of the Russian state media company “Russia Today,” which includes the propaganda resources “RIA Novosti” and “Ukraine.ru.”

Additionally, on March 14, 2023, at the invitation of the Russian delegation, he spoke at a United Nations Security Council meeting, during which he spread Russian propaganda narratives aimed at justifying the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and equating Ukraine with Nazism.

Previously, the court granted the Ministry of Justice's claims to confiscate the assets of other pro-Russian propagandists, including Yuriy Kot, Dmitry Kiselev, Artemiy Lebedev, and others. Their property, including elite real estate, cars, and business shares, was confiscated for the benefit of the Ukrainian state.

Recall that Vyshynsky was detained in 2018 on suspicion of treason.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the editor-in-chief of “RIA Novosti-Ukraine” Kirill Vyshynsky, released from custody, agreed to participate in a prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
