France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has confirmed plans to supply Ukraine with French Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets.
Kyiv is set to receive them in the coming months, the minister noted.
“French Mirage aircraft will soon be flying in Ukrainian skies,” Barrot stated on Tuesday during an interview with Sud Radio, as reported by the BBC.
He specified that the fighters would be delivered to Kyiv by the end of the quarter, “as announced by the president of the republic,” but did not disclose the number of jets that would be provided to Ukraine.
In June 2024, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would supply Ukraine with upgraded Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets and provide pilot training programs.
French media reported that this involves the delivery of three multi-role Mirage 2000-5 fighters, equipped with SCALP cruise missiles and AASM bombs.
Background. It is worth noting that on December 25, it became known that Ukrainian pilots completed training on Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets. At that time, it was also reported that France would deliver Mirage 2000-5 fighters to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025.
