Since the start of 2025, recruitment centers have provided consultations to over 36,000 citizens, with more than 8,000 of them already becoming candidates for the Defense Forces. 20%, or over 1,600 candidates, are women. On Monday, January 27, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on the most common specialties chosen by women who are mobilized into the Defense Forces through recruitment centers.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the statistics from the recruitment centers indicate a high level of women's involvement in the defense of Ukraine. The highest percentage of female candidates was recorded in western Ukraine, specifically:
Following them are Chernihiv region (31%), Odesa region (31%), and Sumy region (21%). It is noted that in the online recruitment center, the rate of inquiries from women stands at 37%.
“Women are actively taking on staff, medical, and combat positions, particularly in the field of UAVs. This further confirms that the Ukrainian military provides opportunities for everyone who wishes to contribute to our shared victory,” stated Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Melnyk.
