The Main Inspection of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on which reforms for this branch of the military will commence. Changes in the Ground Forces will enhance the combat capability of the units, reported on Thursday, January 2, by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
“Victory requires a deep analysis of experience and an honest understanding of mistakes. This is especially true for the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the largest and strategically significant branch of the Armed Forces, responsible for mobilization, training, staffing, and the effectiveness of combat units,” stated Rustem Umerov.
The Defense Minister emphasized that the newly appointed commander of the Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapatiy, must have a “complete picture of the situation,” for which the Main Inspection of the Ministry will carry out a comprehensive analysis of the command of this branch of the military. According to Rustem Umerov, based on the results of the inspection, the Ministry of Defense will implement reforms in the management system and personnel policy, as well as optimize management processes and enhance the combat capability of the Ground Forces units.
Rustem Umerov did not specify when the inspection will begin and how long it will last.
It is worth noting that on December 13, 2024, the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, announced large-scale changes in the Ground Forces. According to him, fundamental transformations are set to occur in the Ground Forces, covering the recruitment system, military training, technology, and combat management. Additionally, the changes will involve the digitalization of military processes, management transformation, logistics, and social support for military personnel. The first areas to be impacted by the transformations will be military training and logistics.
