SubscribeAccording to the expert, the events in Syria could be a turning point not only for Israel but for the entire Middle East. He explains that Iran is far away, and without Syria, it cannot reach Israel or Lebanon. By the way, Lebanon is also becoming a stable country; "Hezbollah" is retreating, pipelines will be built, and trade will flourish.
“Imagine you are laying pipelines from the Persian Gulf through Israel and Syria, eventually leading to Turkey. Suddenly, what gas and oil is all of Europe going to consume? Qatari gas and Saudi oil. What about Russia? Russia's production costs are 5-10 times higher. In Qatar, you just stick a pipe in the ground – gas flows, and that's it,” explains Mikhail Sheitelman.
Interestingly, he notes that after the events in Syria, Trump stated that establishing peace in the Middle East, where conflicts have persisted since 1948, is easier than stopping the Russia-Ukraine war. The expert believes that the chances for peace in the Middle East are currently quite high at 10%, which is significant for the region, while for Ukraine, it's 0% as Putin insists on his ultimatums. This is why Trump assigned Kit Kellogg to sort everything out.
“But they have no solution for what to do next. We're going to deploy a contingent (editor's note – European) – great, we'll draw a map – excellent, we'll convince Zelensky – we’ll convince him. And then what? We’ll call Putin and he won't pick up. So now the ball is in Trump's court; the next move in this whole situation is up to Trump. What measures will he take to make Putin agree to all of this, to force him to at least start trading, so to speak, because that trade is currently nonexistent,” explains Mikhail Sheitelman.
