LOVA has identified the most in-demand professions in the labor market of Lviv region.

According to Ivan Pycus, the head of the department of innovations, vocational, pre-higher, and higher education at the Lviv Regional State Administration, a survey conducted in November 2023 revealed that 37% of businesses in the region experienced a significant shortage of skilled workers. The regional order for 2024 aims to ensure that vocational and technical education adapts flexibly to the actual demands of the economy.

More than a third of enterprises in Lviv region are experiencing a shortage of skilled workers. This was reported on November 11 at a meeting of the Regional Council for Vocational and Technical Education in the Lviv Oblast Administration. Officials highlighted the most in-demand professions in the labor market as well as those most popular among applicants to vocational schools in Lviv region.

According to Ivan Pykus, head of the department of innovations, vocational, pre-higher, and higher education at the Lviv Oblast State Administration, a survey conducted in November 2023 revealed that 37% of enterprises in the region faced a significant shortage of skilled workers. The regional order for 2024 aims to ensure that vocational and technical education responds flexibly to the real demands of the economy.

Among the most popular professions in Lviv region are:

  • auto mechanics,
  • tractors drivers,
  • electrical installers,
  • plasterers,
  • electric and gas welders,
  • data and software operators,
  • tailors,
  • chefs.

«We have a better percentage of fulfilling the regional order compared to last year, which has led to a decrease in the cost of training one student. We are already forming our vision for 2025, relying on statistical data, the results of conducted surveys, and economic forecasts from the Department of Economy, to create an order that closely aligns with the needs of businesses and the regional economy», – noted Ivan Pykus.

Among the priority sectors of the Lviv region's economy are:

  • automotive transport,
  • agriculture,
  • catering,
  • construction,
  • metal processing,
  • light industry,
  • service sectors,
  • electrical installation work.

The regional order for vocational pre-higher education stands at 92% of the planned figure. The most popular fields among applicants are construction and civil engineering, software engineering, oil and gas engineering, and technologies.
