The Buzka District Court in Lviv region has issued a verdict against orthopedic traumatologist Andrii Machula, who accepted a bribe from a man and promised to provide him with a false diagnosis to help him evade conscription during mobilization. The court imposed a penalty of 51,000 UAH in fines on the doctor.
As stated in the verdict, which was published in the court register in January 2025, the orthopedic traumatologist from Buzka Central District Hospital and a member of the Military Medical Commission promised to assign a diagnosis to the conscripted individual, which would allow the commission to grant him a deferment from mobilization due to illness. ZAXID.NET reported that this concerns Andrii Machula, who was detained in June 2024 after receiving a bribe of 15,000 UAH.
In court, the accused admitted his guilt and confirmed that for 15,000 UAH, he promised the man a diagnosis that would serve as grounds for obtaining a deferment.
This case was reviewed by Judge Borys Zhuribyda, who examined all the evidence and found Andrii Machula guilty of accepting a bribe, imposing a penalty of 51,000 UAH in fines. The 15,000 UAH bribe will be returned to its owner. The verdict can still be appealed.
