Prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau have informed the acting head of the State Customs Service, Serhiy Zvyahintsev, of suspicion regarding false declaration. This was reported on Monday, January 6, by the SAP and NAKO. It should be noted that the name of the suspect has not been disclosed, but from open sources, it is known that this position is currently held by Serhiy Zvyahintsev.
According to the investigation, in the income declaration for the years 2021-2023, the official of the State Customs Service did not declare a residential house near Kyiv with an area of 236.8 m² and the land plot on which it is located. The property, valued at over $100,000, is registered under a close relative of his wife, but in fact, the real owners are the official and his family.
The SAP and NAKO have announced suspicion against Serhiy Zvyahintsev for deliberately providing knowingly false information in the declaration (Part 1 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The maximum penalty provided by the article's sanction is imprisonment for up to two years.
Additionally, it should be noted that Serhiy Zvyahintsev has been serving as the acting head of the State Customs Service since February 2023. The website of the State Customs Service states that Zvyahintsev holds three higher education degrees in the fields of economics, law, and international management. Since January 2020, he has headed the Department of State Supervision and Control over Safety in Maritime and River Transport of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Ukraine. From July 2020, he held the position of head of this agency.
