Romanian presidential candidate Georgescu referred to Ukraine as a "fake state."

When asked if he is betting on the division of Ukrainian territories, he replied, "One hundred percent."
Кандидат в президенты Румынии Джорджеску охарактеризовал Украину как «вымышленное государство».

Pro-Russian presidential candidate in Romania, Kalin Georgescu, considers Ukraine to be a "made-up state." He stated that its territories will be divided among neighboring countries.

He made this claim in an interview with journalist Ion Cristea, quotes Romania TV.

"The world is changing. Borders will change. Moreover, if borders are to change, where do we stand? So we have Northern Bukovina, we have Budjak, we have Northern Maramureș from the former Transcarpathia, what remains of the Hungarians, Lviv, which will remain with the Poles, and Little Russia," Georgescu stated.

He is convinced that the division of Ukrainian territories after the war ends "will definitely happen" and that Ukraine "has no other choice."

"This path is inevitable. Ukraine is a made-up state," added the far-right politician.

Earlier, Georgescu declared that if he wins the election, he will ban the transit of Ukrainian grain through his country and cease military aid to Ukraine.

Politico describes Georgescu as an "extremely religious and nationalist" politician who claimed that the war waged by the aggressor country, Russia, against Ukraine is allegedly "manipulated by American military companies." Georgescu has also referred to Putin as "a man who loves his country" and echoed his propaganda statements (for instance, that the U.S. missile defense facility in Romania is "part of a confrontation policy").

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that on November 24, 2024, the first round of presidential elections took place in Romania. The second round features the opponent of aid to Ukraine, Kelin Georgescu (22.94%), and pro-European liberal politician Elena Lascu (19.18%). The current Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, received 19.15% of the votes in the first round and did not advance to the next. Following this, the politician decided to resign.
