The Green Party's chancellor candidate, Habeck, promises to provide Ukraine with TAURUS missiles.

He joined the opposition candidate Friedrich Merz in the race for the position of head of government.
Кандидат в канцлери Германии от «зеленых» Хабек обещает предоставить Украине TAURUS.

Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economy of Germany, Robert Habeck, promised that if elected as head of the German government, he would send long-range TAURUS cruise missiles to Ukraine.

This statement was made by the candidate for chancellor from the "Alliance 90"/"Greens" party in an interview with ARD television on Sunday, November 17, as reported by DW.

This stance contradicts that of the current Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, who opposes supplying TAURUS to Ukraine.

Another candidate for Chancellor of Germany from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, previously made a similar campaign promise to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles, accusing Scholz of lacking a strategic vision.

Olaf Scholz justified his refusal to supply TAURUS missiles to Kyiv by citing the danger of involving Germany in the war.

The day before, the German Minister of Defense, a party mate of Scholz from the Social Democratic Party, Boris Pistorius, also expressed negative views on supplying TAURUS to Ukraine, stating that delivering cruise missiles to Kyiv would not change the situation in Ukraine.

Recently, The New York Times, citing informed sources, reported on the Biden administration's decision to lift the ban on Ukraine for strikes deep into Russia using American long-range weapons. According to NYT sources, this involves the use of ATACMS missiles by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for targets in the Kursk region.

The permission was granted in response to Russia's unexpected decision to involve North Korean troops in combat operations, explained officials who wished to remain anonymous.

ATACMS missiles are capable of hitting targets up to 300 km away.

Later, the French newspaper Le Figaro reported that following the U.S., France and the United Kingdom also granted Kyiv permission to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles. However, a few hours later, the publication removed this information from its online page.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the leak of information from the White House to the press.

“Today, much in the media is said about us receiving permission for relevant actions. But strikes are not made with words. Such things are not announced. The missiles will speak for themselves,” he stated.
