Igor Chalenko assessed the prospects of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, stating they may improve "after Putin's death."

“A few key points from the president. First – he stated that the return of territories will not be documented on paper. The second point – the struggle for certain territories will have to be postponed until after Putin's death. So, the president himself mentions this,” notes Igor Chalenko.

Moreover, he adds, this was a specific response to Elon Musk's unpleasant comment about the joker-president. Thus, the expert observes, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is an independent state, and it won't be possible to simply sit it at the negotiation table to remain silent and listen, as we have our own interests and vision for how to end this war.

Regarding the negotiations themselves, the program guest notes that it should be understood that Ukraine and Russia do not recognize each other's leaders; the Kremlin stopped recognizing President Zelensky after his five-year term, and we ceased to recognize Putin after his latest elections. Therefore, he explains, negotiations will occur, but the question lies in their format; clearly, they will not be direct.

“Right now, a parade of peace plans and initiatives is underway; Erdogan has stepped forward. He has good experience in organizing such indirect negotiations.
