“Changes for pensioners – and here lies the paradox. What are they promising? Starting from the beginning of next year, the government will introduce additional payments for a specific category of pensioners affected by the Chernobyl disaster. According to the new rules, a monthly supplement of 2361 UAH will be assigned to non-working Chernobyl pensioners who continuously lived in the zones of unconditional and voluntary resettlement from April 26, 1986, to January 1, 1993,” reports Yekaterina Kotenko.

At the same time, she notes that at the end of this article, it is stated that there will be very careful checks on everyone who is counting on this assistance, so it’s too early to celebrate.

Changes will also occur, the journalist reports, regarding tariffs. According to her, starting January 1 of next year, the Ukrenergo tariff for electricity transmission will be set at 686.23 UAH/MWh, a decision approved by the National Commission regulating the energy and utility sectors. Additionally, the journalist adds, Ukrenergo plans to raise electricity tariffs for household consumers to 6.64 UAH, with new prices expected to take effect from June 1.

“And then it gets even crazier. This article also states that overall, in the next 2-3 years, tariffs are planned to be increased to 9 UAH. The Ministry of Energy explains this increase as a necessity to align prices at market levels. Now imagine what will happen once the tariff reaches 9 UAH, what the prices will be, what the services will be like? Astronomical,” – shares Yekaterina Kotenko.
