The NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte urged Western allies of Ukraine to increase military assistance, thereby altering the course of the war.
“We must do more than just help Ukraine hold its ground. We need to raise the cost for Putin […] and provide Ukraine with the support it requires to change the trajectory of the conflict,” – Rutte stated on Tuesday in Paris after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Rutte noted that Russia's collaboration with Iran and North Korea, which provide military aid, as well as with China, poses a threat not only to Ukraine and Europe.
“Russia's cooperation with North Korea, Iran, and China threatens not only Europe; it endangers peace and security – yes, here in Europe as well – but also in the Indo-Pacific region and North America,” said the NATO Secretary General.
Emmanuel Macron, for his part, called for strengthening European defense forces and reducing their dependence on the United States.
“For the safety of our citizens, we need a strong Ukraine, a strong Europe, and a strong Alliance. This is our common goal,” the President stated.
