Marek Radziwon, a historian and literary critic, will be appointed as the Consul General of Poland in Lviv.

The new Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv will be the renowned Polish historian and literary critic Marek Radziwon [Marek Radziwon]. Initially, this announcement appeared on the page of the Commission for Relations with Poles Abroad of the Polish Sejm. Later, the message was removed, but the media had already reported on it, including Tygodnik Przegląd, which mentioned the consideration of Marek Radziwon's candidacy as early as December 30.

The 54-year-old Marek Radziwon will become the eleventh Consul General of Poland in Lviv since Ukraine gained independence. He will succeed Eliza Dzwonkiewicz, who will complete her five-year consular term in the autumn of 2024.

Marek Radziwon is a well-known historian and literary critic. He received his education at the Theatre Institute and defended his doctoral dissertation in history. Radziwon focuses on the research of modern history in Poland, Russia, and the USSR, has been the editor of several academic journals, and has written for many media outlets. From 2009 to 2014, he led the Polish Institute in Moscow. Since 2022, he has served as the president of the Polish PEN Club.
