The pipelines "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream 2" need to be dismantled to prevent European politicians from being tempted to resume Russian gas supplies.
Polish President Andrzej Duda stated this in an interview with the BBC.
In his opinion, gas supplies from Russia to Western Europe should never be restored, "even if Russia and Ukraine reach a peace agreement".
Discussing the possibility of the pipelines operating, Duda mentioned Germany as a country that might be "tempted to restore Russian supplies" to support its struggling economy.
The President of Poland believes that the pipelines should be dismantled because they pose "a significant threat" to Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, and several Central European countries—both economically and militarily.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the USA reinstated sanctions against several organizations involved in the construction of the "Nord Stream 2" pipeline.
