Fico claims he has reached an agreement with Putin regarding gas supplies for Slovakia.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia stated that the suspension of gas supplies from Ukraine reportedly cost the country 500 million euros in transit fees and an additional 1 billion euros due to higher gas prices.
Фіцо утверждает, что договорился с Путиным о поставках газа для Словакии.

The gas supply to Slovakia was allegedly secured during Prime Minister Robert Fico's visit to Vladimir Putin in Moscow at the end of December, just before Ukraine halted its gas transit.

This was stated by the Slovak official, as reported by Reuters.

"I needed to ensure at least gas for Slovakia's domestic consumption, which we did without raising gas prices," he said, although he did not provide detailed information about the gas supply.

According to the Slovak gas transmission system operator Eustream, after the cessation of supplies from Ukraine, Slovakia continued to receive gas through Hungary, where Russian gas arrives via the "Turkish Stream," writes Reuters.

Fico claimed that the suspension of supplies from Ukraine allegedly cost the country 500 million euros in transit fees and 1 billion euros due to higher gas prices.

He accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of "sabotaging the financial interests of Slovakia and the EU" by refusing to extend the transit of Russian gas.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Fico accused Kyiv of harming Bratislava due to the termination of Russian gas transit, which was set to expire at the end of 2024, and also threatened to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine and reduce assistance to refugees.
