Ukrainian figure skater Ivan Shmuratko has advanced to the free program at the 2025 European Championship taking place in Tallinn.
After the short program, 24 athletes qualified for the final. Shmuratko is in 17th place with a total score of 71.53 (this is the athlete's lowest result of the season). Interestingly, Shmuratko performed three short programs in the tournaments leading up to the European Championship. These included "White Flowers Take Their Bath" by Mari Samuelson and "Une vie d'amour" by Charles Aznavour.

For 23-year-old Ivan Shmuratko, this is his fourth European Championship. His best result was in 2022, where he finished in 12th place.
The leader was two-time European champion Adam Xiao Him Fa from France, scoring 93.12 points. Interestingly, he prepared two free programs for the season and performs them alternately, depending on his mood.
This time, it was the composition "SOS d’un terrien en détresse" by Alexis Cartier.
“A long time ago, it seems almost five years ago, Benoit Richaud suggested that I skate to this music. At that time, I didn’t feel ready. Then, when we started thinking about programs and searching for music, he reminded me of this idea, and this year I told myself that it could be good. A nice theme, music that I really like. And it also allowed me to change my style a bit,” Adam shared.
The men's singles free program will take place on Saturday, February 1. On January 30, the first set of medals in the European Championship will be contested by the sports pairs, with Ukraine represented by Sofia Holichenko and Artem Darenksy.
