The assault group of the 79th Air Assault Brigade captured 14 Russians during an attack on enemy positions. This was reported by the brigade on Telegram on Saturday, January 4.
“The assault group approached one of the Russian positions closely. Prior to that, the pilots of the strike drones effectively targeted the enemy - after an intense and prolonged airstrike, the occupiers retreated into a cramped bunker and did not show their faces from the shelter,” the brigade's report stated.
As a result, two assault troops managed to achieve complete surprise - they threw grenades right at the entrance of the enemy bunker.
After this, the Russians laid down their arms and surrendered. It turned out that there were as many as 14 Russian soldiers at the position.
“In unique footage from night drones, we see how two of our paratroopers are effectively leading the Russian soldiers into captivity. A brilliant and heroic effort,” the brigade shared.
The 79th Air Assault Brigade, known as “Tavriyska”, is formed and based in the city of Mykolaiv. The commander of the 79th Air Assault Brigade is Colonel Eduard Kolodiy.
The brigade participated in the most significant battles for Ukrainian independence in 2014-2015, including the battles for Debaltseve and the Donetsk airport. Currently, the brigade is engaged in combat and destroying Russians in one of the toughest fronts - the Kurakhiv direction in the Donetsk region.
