On Monday, December 23, the Rostov region of Russia was targeted by strike drones. Local Telegram channels reported explosions near the strategic airfield of the occupiers – this information was confirmed by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council.

Eyewitnesses reported the explosions in the vicinity of the city of Millerovo on the evening of December 23. In videos shared by local Telegram channels, one can see how one of the drones, attempting to target Russian mobile groups, crashes onto the airfield.

According to Kovalenko, the drones attacked the local airfield "Millerovo," located 20 km from the Ukrainian-Russian border. The airfield is utilized by the Russians for attacks on Ukraine.

“It serves as a base for frontline aviation, which carries out tasks supporting Russian infantry operating in Eastern and Southern Ukraine,” Kovalenko stated.

The authorities of the Rostov region have traditionally claimed to have shot down all drones. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that they allegedly destroyed nine drones over the region, blaming Ukraine for the attack.
