Dovbyk aided Roma in securing a challenging victory over Lazio in the Rome derby.

On Sunday, January 5, during the 19th round of the Italian championship, the Roman derby took place – "Roma" faced "Lazio." Despite a 15-point lead for the Eagles, Artem Dovbyk's team unexpectedly secured a confident victory and climbed into the top 10 of Serie A. The Ukrainian forward started for "Roma" and played for 74 minutes (without registering any scoring actions).

At the beginning of the match, Kone had a chance to put "Roma" ahead, but Provedel leaped to deny the shot from the left post. Pellegrini somewhat redeemed himself for his teammate: after receiving a pass on the edge of the penalty area, he chose not to pass to Dovbyk, who had drawn defenders, but instead aimed and accurately struck into the right corner.

Eight minutes later, Saelemaekers sped down the right flank and instead of passing to the far post, where the Ukrainian forward was waiting, he shot himself – Provedel parried it in front of him, leaving the Belgian defender to simply tap it into the empty net.

After the break, "Lazio" significantly improved and held an astonishing advantage (74% to 26% in possession and 11 to 1 in shots), but they failed to convert this into at least one goal. As a result, "Roma" earned 23 points and returned to the tenth position in the Serie A standings. "Lazio" remains fourth with 35 points.
