Ukrainian biathlete Dmytro Pidruchnyi finished 4th in the sprint at the World Cup stage in Oberhof. He completed both shooting ranges without errors and delivered an impressive final lap, finishing just 3.9 seconds behind Norway's Martin Uldal, who was the fastest, and crossed the line neck and neck with overall leader Johannes Thingnes Bø. Overall, Pidruchnyi recorded the 17th fastest time among the one hundred athletes competing in the race, lagging nearly half a minute behind Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bø.

All the medals in the race were claimed by the French. The sprint victory went to Quentin Fillon Maillet, who made no mistakes. The second place went to Fabien Claude, who also shot clean, while Emilien Jacquelin took third place with one miss in the standing shoot.

Three other Ukrainians also competed in the race. Vitaliy Mandzyn finished 17th with one error in the prone position. Taras Lesyuk, missing a shot in the standing position, placed 34th. Anton Dudchenko, with a total of three misses, finished 78th and did not qualify for the pursuit race.

It’s worth noting that 33-year-old Dmytro Pidruchnyi is the leader of the Ukrainian men's biathlon team. He is the first in Ukraine's history to become a world champion in biathlon: in 2019, after finishing 4th in the sprint, he went on to win gold in the pursuit race. These are his best results in his career at the world championships and World Cup events.

He has also secured fourth places twice in mass starts at World Cup stages – in 2016 in Ruhpolding and in 2020 in Nové Město. At the Olympics, he reached as high as 13th place in both the sprint and pursuit events in Beijing in 2022.
