The State Audit Office conducted an audit of the budget program usage by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS) and uncovered violations in its activities amounting to over 1 billion UAH.

This was reported by the press service of the State Audit Office of Ukraine.

Overall, the activities of the academy, 21 subordinate institutions, and 6 state enterprises were examined.

The most significant violations primarily concerned the improper use of land and resources by NAAS in non-scientific activities.

For instance, some plots were leased to third parties based on various agreements that had signs of hidden leasing. This prevented the institutions and enterprises of the academy from generating additional revenue totaling over 70 million UAH, according to the report.

Moreover, NAAS was ineffective in cultivating agricultural products, which had yields below the average for the respective regions. The products themselves were often sold at undervalued prices, as stated by the press service.

In addition, there were unjustified write-offs of agricultural crop plantings, and in some areas, no harvest collection took place at all. This resulted in NAAS missing out on additional revenue of about 487 million UAH (of which 6.4 million UAH were directly lost).

The audit materials have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that in 2024, the State Audit Office conducted nearly 12,000 control measures: 1,149 audits and inspections, over 10.4 thousand procurement monitoring activities, and 213 state financial audits.
