Lawmakers did not extend the land lease for the controversial restaurant located in the heart of Lviv.

A restaurant called "The Talkative Mother-in-Law" has been established in the location of the former summer terrace.
Депутаты не продлили аренду земли под скандальным рестораном в центре Львова.

On Thursday, January 30, the deputies of the Lviv City Council voted against extending the land lease for the restaurant "Yazykata Teshcha" located at 16-18 Svobody Avenue. At the same time, the majority of deputies did not support an alternative resolution to extend the lease period. The company "BiNP LTD" is attempting to reclaim these plots through the courts.

The restaurant "Yazykata Teshcha" is located behind the Garrison Church. In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, a summer terrace was arranged at this location, and over the years, this area was expanded into a full-fledged dining establishment. However, the owners of the restaurant, which was then called "Knyazhy Kelykh," did not receive project approval from the Lviv City Council's Department of Cultural Heritage Protection.

In 2014, the deputies of the Lviv City Council voted to extend the lease of the land plots on Svobody Avenue, 16-18, where the restaurant is located, for another 10 years to "BiNP LTD." In 2024, the lease term for the land plots measuring 0.026 and 0.038 hectares expired for "BiNP LTD." The company filed a lawsuit to automatically extend the lease. Meanwhile, two resolutions were submitted for the consideration of the Lviv City Council deputies – one for lease extension and one for refusal. At the meeting on January 30, the deputies declined to extend the lease agreement.

Additionally, in August 2024, the executive committee of the Lviv City Council adopted a decision to demolish an unauthorized temporary structure. Following this, "BiNP LTD" appealed to the Lviv District Administrative Court requesting a suspension of the demolition order to secure their lawsuit. On January 9, the court ruled that during the period of martial law, there was no need to extend the permit for the summer terrace's operation, and granted the entrepreneurs' request. The court suspended the enforcement of the Department of Natural Resources' order pending a final court decision.

The owners of "BiNP LTD" are Lviv residents Nadia Tarasevych and Bohdan Dziadyk. This same company constructed an unauthorized building at 2 Shpitalna Street and later legalized the land lease under it through the court. In December 2023, the Lviv City Council deputies, at the request of Nadia Tarasevych, allowed the development of a detailed plan in the area of Khmelnytskyi, Zhovkivska, and Donetska streets, which includes the construction of a hotel complex.
