Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced on November 19 that Denmark would allocate €130 million for the development of Ukraine's defense industry during a joint press briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Frederiksen arrived in Kyiv on November 19 for an unexpected visit and met with Zelensky on the 1000th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“It is important for me that representatives of our own industry, not only in Denmark but also in all neighboring countries, can visit Ukraine and learn from your experience and your ability to expand and develop your production lines,” Frederiksen stated.

The head of the Danish government declared that Ukraine must win this war, which is why Denmark has provided and will continue to provide assistance and support for the defense industry.

“We are already seeing what your defense industry is capable of. We understand that these investments lead to a real impact on the battlefield,” said the Danish Prime Minister.

She also added that the outcome of this war will determine the future not only of Ukraine but also of Europe.

“You belong to our Euro-Atlantic family, you belong to the NATO and EU space, and we will support you in your next steps during Denmark's presidency in the EU, where the main priority will be EU expansion,” Mette Frederiksen concluded.

Denmark became the first country to offer to supply weapons to Ukraine through direct purchases from the Ukrainian defense industry to enhance the capabilities of Ukrainian arms production.

According to Zelensky, under this funding model, the Ukrainian defense industry has already attracted over $1 billion from partners, including Norway, which recently joined the initiative.

Zelensky added that Ukraine needs to open its defense industry for full cooperation with partners.

Denmark, one of Kyiv's key supporters during Russia's full-scale invasion, announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $350 million on October 18.

In total, Denmark has provided over 20 packages of defense support and has also created a special model for the development of Ukrainian industry in collaboration with Ukraine.

“It allows us to unite other countries around investments in weapons production in Ukraine. This includes artillery, our 'Bogdans', as well as rockets and long-range drones. We will continue to develop this cooperation,” Zelensky noted.
